THE MARTIAN COMIC STRIP

Half way through the film The Martian, students will create a comic strip depicting what they think will happen after the climax of the film.

MARS HABITABILITY PROJECT

In groups, students will work together to design a habitat prototype that would support life of Mars. This prototype will be accompanied by a written explanation/justification of their habitat to answer the question ‘Why should the government invest in your habitat?’

INDIGENOUS CONSTELLATION STORY LESSON PLAN

A member of the Indigenous community will be invited to share their experiences and teach students about the history of oral storytelling and the role it plays in the Indigenous community through Indigenous Constellation Stories.

LESSON PLAN 02

SPACE LIVESTREAMS & SIMULATIONS LESSON PLAN

Students will be able to explore space simulations that use real astronomical data to recreate the universe. They can also test out livestreams to complement their research, and play games to practice communication and collaboration.

LESSON PLAN 03

THE MARTIAN LESSON PLAN

Students will watch The Martian, practice their hypothesizing skills and create a comic strip as part of a film study.

LESSON PLAN 04

MARS HABITABILITY LESSON PLAN

Students will be introduced to the final performance task of creating a habitability prototype that will sustain life on Mars as a part of 'government proposals' that will be later presented at a showcase.
